Greenpeace Mobilization Lab wrote about a project I worked on using twitter to call upon the State Department to support international ocean sanctuaries.


I was pretty happy with how things went and the blog does a good job at capturing lessons learned. You’ll have to read it to figure out how Leo plays in.

Whooping Crane Destroying the Keystone XL Tar Sands Pipeline.
A couple of years ago I was really inspired by a mural in Seattle, "Spirit Bear Destroying the Tar Sands."  I just love the mythology of local animals fighting back against fossil fuel projects. So I made two similar mash ups with the same theme and now this.

The whooping crane, which I believe is the most endangered bird in the US, has a migration route that overlaps with the Keystone tar sands pipeline. They nest in the same part of Texas where the tar sands is refined. I&#8217;m sure the whooping crane would destroy the pipeline if it could but instead its up to us.
This is a Fair Use collage of photos by the spectacular wildlife photographer Mike Sloat and game changing activists of the Tar Sands Blockade.
